Clean and simple

I've decided to employ a minimalist approach to my blog layout for the time being. The dull background and orange font was starting to induce tears. And now I have a quirky little doodley woo as my banner. It's only temporary though, I really wanted to design some sort of extravagant title image with fantastical beasts and delicious colours but I'm not feeling very creative at present. I also don't want to stick with The Crimson Arrow. I'll keep it as the URL but I'd like something fresh for the blog title. It's too bad my imagination has ran off with my drive and motivation. If you see them, tell them to come home. Dinner is getting cold....

Blaug, Category: Other

My dearest friendest Kevin now writes things on the internet! I made two pictures for him to put up on his new blog that feature his Survival of the Fittest knife throwing T-Rex.

The above has Mr. Hannigan writing a script on his Pineapple Nac-Book (har!). The pineapple is a reference to a dream he had and then told me about. I hope he laughs, then cries, then laughs again. A gay pineapple!? THE BAG HAD VELCRO!!

Originally he was supposed to be writing in a notebook but I changed that. I did forget, however, to take the pencil out of his mouth. Woopsies! That's what happens when you're paid in coupons.

This one references Kev's unforgettable role as ROOKIE in Interpol (2009) where he is shot by TERRORIST? and dies but comes back as GHOST to watch over the remaining agents of Interpol.

Kevin's blog is The Epicness of Awesomeness.  Read it and suffer with laughter. It's just up and running but the words are very funny and I expect quality content to follow. I mean how can it possibly be bad with a title like that? Over-statement you say? Ridiculous expectations? Surely not!

Haute!

Just finished designing the title image for sist's blog. Ugggghhhhhhh....
I drew the thing ages ago and thought Cathy will want some input so I showed her the sketch and asked her what she'd like me to do with it. Five hours later it's we got somewhere. Cathy was quite particular about everything. If the design had been detailed we both would've died of frustration.
"Make that purple more light, but darker."
"Her face looks like a man."
"I don't like that K"

Sure it's done and she's happy so I'm happy. Ugggghhhhhhh....

Here it is anyway, I think it's pretty cool.

EDIT: I didn't take five hours to actually DO the thing, just the decision making process. Y'know, colours, font, space, negative space.... I'd say actual work was about 20 minutes.

Give me something creepy

Blog vomit (blomit) alert. I just had this overwhelming urge to post this after watching the intro to Silent Hill 2 on YouTube. I haven't played that SHIT SCARY game in years but it all came flooding back to me as to how much I love that franchise. The stories, the scares, the visuals, the music, the crappy film adaptation - loves it.
This would be a stupid/lame thing to post about but as I wept at over gamer nostalgia it occurred to me that a few years ago I got a bit fan artsy with Silent Hill and started uploading stuff online. The saddest part isn't the fan art aspect. It's the fact that I posted them on some random SH fansite in the furthest depths of the netherweb, rather than DeviantArt or something else more well known. I think the site had about twenty users as far as I remember. But then there were the anons and trolls who came and went as they pleased. Anyway, shut up self.
Lookey, I reached into my Old Laptop folder and found a few of these little gems!  They're my farts, i.e. fan arts. They're all scans, except the eye thing was edited ferociously with software. Some of them were put up on the wall near my bed in my old house. And yet I never figured out why I had so many zombie nightmares.

I also remember my housemate Kelley coming into my room and suggesting that the nurse could be creepier if there was some gick vintage wallpaper as the background.

You're right Kel, it's well creepier. HAPPIEE VALENTIMES!

Storyboards

It's great how drab and generic my page looks when I see other bloggers pimped out shit. Well it's not great, but it is in a sense that I have something to work at i.e. vajazzling my blog layout. I'll get to it eventually.

I really want to get into doing storyboards or concept art for film, television, ads, internets, anything. I think speed is one of my downfalls. I see all the pretty storyboards in my in-depth research on Google Images and think "if I try hard enough maybe I could do that," but then there's loads of good ones that look like work churned out at 10 lines per sec. And they still look really good.
I give myself little objectives and ask around for scripts or shot lists to storyboard. A friend sent me a short script that he is shooting soon so I figured that this would be perfect to up my speed level.

All the pencils break....
Scanner doesn't like me....
Software hard to use....
Face melts....

I said a couple of days and it took probably about a week. Not so speedy. But I was just soooo busy that week and he still liked them anyways so go away shame cramps. He really did like them and said they were useful since he had trouble visualizing shots with no actors. I think that was the point of the exercise then.
Speed and dexterity are useful but making the thing happen on the page that you give the client and is what the client wants is the thing the client likes, like. Also get them done before they shoot.

Here's two pages of the ones I did for my friend. I used Illustrator to the extent I'd use MS Paint and painted splodges over various places as "shading". Also prepare to be amazed by the guitar base that's the same size as a bedside table.

Hai

This is my new blog. Everyone's doing it so I wouldn't be cool if I didn't do it either.

The hardest thing is coming up with a name. My sister said if I had a blog about Jamaican food I could call it "Jamaican Me Crazy." I really like that but also not.

I like to draw and write so I'm just gonna throw anything on this with the hopes that people might like it and give me a job. So here's a picture I put on Tumblr (which I don't know if I'll still use because I don't fully understand it yet.) Also it's like a reveal for my "what's in that banner" banner!

I dreamed about it while I slept.
